At Fal View, we know that holidays are even better when you can bring your four-legged friend along. Luckily, Falmouth is spoiled for choice when it comes to beautiful, dog-friendly beaches and coastal walks. From sandy stretches to sheltered coves, here are some of our favourites — all just a short distance from your doorstep.

🐾 Castle Beach

A charming little spot close to Pendennis Point, Castle Beach is a mixture of sand and shingle, perfect for rockpooling at low tide. Dogs are welcome outside of the main summer restrictions (1 July – 31 August, 10am–6pm). It’s a peaceful place for a stroll with the bonus of dramatic views across the bay.

🐾 Gyllyngvase Beach

Known locally as “Gylly,” this is Falmouth’s largest and most popular beach. With soft sand, calm swimming waters, and the lovely Gylly Beach Café right on the sand, it’s a favourite with both visitors and locals. Dogs are welcome on the beach from 1 October to 30 April, and outside of that, they can enjoy the coastal path walks leading straight from here.

🐾 Swanpool Beach

A small but lively beach with water sports and a nature reserve just behind, Swanpool is another local gem. Dogs aren’t allowed on the sand in peak summer (1 July – 31 August, 10am–6pm), but it’s a great stop-off on the South West Coast Path — ideal if you’re walking between Gyllyngvase and Maenporth with your pup.

🐾 Maenporth Beach

Just a little further along the coast, Maenporth is a pretty sandy bay with gentle waters. The café here is perfect for refuelling, and it’s an easy coastal walk from Swanpool. Like the other main beaches, seasonal restrictions apply, but outside of summer this is a glorious spot to let your dog run free.

🐾 Bonus: The Coastal Walk

One of the real joys of staying in Falmouth is that you don’t need to choose just one beach. The South West Coast Path links Castle, Gyllyngvase, Swanpool, and Maenporth, making for a spectacular dog walk with sea views all the way. Take it as a leisurely stroll with coffee stops — or stretch it into a full day out.

Whether it’s sandy paws, seaside cafés, or clifftop views, Falmouth’s beaches are made for exploring — and your dog will love them just as much as you do
